As George W Bush struggles to find the exit door (and probably manages to inflict just a tiny bit more damage on his way out) it's best left to The Onion to capture the moment, and to deliver one of the most entertaining and probably true bits of analysis of the election.

I absolutely have to agree with that article. Also with the last sentence, maybe even more than with the rest.
But at the very least I'm happy that it's not another Republican in the White House. I don't know if Obama can really bring a change, because 8 years of Bush destroyed so much, it will be extremely hard to build it up again in only 4 years. And many of the nation's problems can not just be solved with politics alone. I think therein lies a certain danger. The article quite rightly points out that the nation's situation is finally shitty enough for people to care. The problem is that many of them now expect Obama to fix everything for them and that is a task that even he can't manage (even though he pretty much based his whole campaign on that).
Think of the Ukraine, only three years after the orange revolution the mood in the country has changed again.
